The Currencies sub-menu allows the user to create any currency required for the organization in which Metis Smart Suite is being deployed. The user can either create new currencies or select already existing currencies from the drop-down list to define a new exchange rate. The exchange rate between the two currencies however, must be defined by the user. Once an exchange rate is defined, the currency is defined. The defined exchange rates allow Metis Smart Modeling to always calculate the right price in various currencies. The end user can still select which type of currency should appear in the proposal.
-
For example, if users specify the CHF/EUR and the EUR/RUB exchange rates, Metis Smart Modeling will not automatically calculate the CHF/RUB rate based on the first two rates alone. Therefore, if users wish to have the CHF/RUB, it has to be entered separately in the list of exchange rates.
+

-
However, if users specify the EUR/USD exchange rate, Metis Smart Modeling will automatically calculate the reverse exchange rate (USD/EUR). Therefore, it will not be necessary to also specify the USD/EUR rate separately.

When an exchange rate is defined for in one direction, the second is automatically calculated by Metis Smart Modeling. For example, if users specify the EUR/USD exchange rate, Metis Smart Modeling will automatically calculate the reverse exchange rate (USD/EUR). Therefore, it will not be necessary to also specify the USD/EUR rate separately.

Defining cascading exchange rates will not enable Metis to calculate the exchange rate between the first and the last currency.

In Metis Smart Suite, currencies are used for defining prices (and all related objects), positions and offers in Metis Smart Quotes.
 +

Existing currencies are listed in the table along with their exchange rates. Currencies can be set in several different places in both Smart Quotes and Smart Modeling.

-
All positions in Metis must have a currency defined. To edit the currency of an existing position, open Smart Modeling and go to the positions sub-menu. Select a position and click on the edit button. Now, on the price tab, the price groups are listed and a currency column is found in the table.

-
Here the user can set the currency for the position for all of the price groups the position is part of. Clicking on the currency cell for a position will open a drop-down list of existing currencies where the user can select the desired one. The position can have a different currency for each price group.

Currencies for the positions can also be changed through the Price Groups sub-menu as well. When adding or editing a price group, the list of positions in that price group is displayed with a currency column.

The currency can also be set for an offer. In Smart Quotes, when creating a new or editing an existing offer, one of the fields in the offer window is currency. Clicking on the drop-down icon lists all the existing currencies from which the user can choose from.

-
After changing the currency, a warning message will appear at the bottom of the window indicating that for the changes to take place, you must first click on the Price tab in Smart Quotes.

On the left-hand side of the window, a '''Search''' feature is found. The '''Search''' feature for currencies contains the following search criteria:

-

-
*Currency From: Any currency found in the currency from column can be chosen

-

-
*Currency To: Any currency found in the currency to column can be chosen

When the user is ready, the '''Search''' can be launched with the results appearing in the section below. After the search results have been found, selecting a currency will highlight that currency in the main table where the user can then see the exchange rate.
