Description of the Menu Positions

Once all related mandatory and optional information have been set, the new ... can be saved by validating the '''...''' window using the [[File:MetisSmartModelingOKButton.PNG|link=]] button at the bottom of the window.  

In the '''Positions''' sub-menu, the "Preview" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingPreviewButton.PNG|link=]] located above the main table allows the user/administrator to see all properties and information related to the selected Position .  

 

Selecting a Position from the  table/list and clicking on it opens the '''...''' preview window.

Metis Smart Suite enables the use of quantity units which are then used for example in product attributes. Quantity units can be added, deleted, and edited. Quantity units are used to give a more specific meaning when counting or measuring a certain unit such as time, weight and size. The quantity units for these measurements could be hours, kilograms or centimeters for example.

Quantity units are used when defining attributes. An attribute could be defined as "Service Hours" and the quantity unit defined alongside it would be "Hours." Further information regarding the use of quantity unit and attributes can be found on the attributes main page.

Quantity units can also be associated to positions. When either creating a new or editing an existing position, the user can choose to select a quantity unit to associate with the position from the drop-down list.

On the left-hand side of the window, a '''Search''' feature is found. This feature includes the fields '''Code''' and '''Description''' as search criteria as well as a '''Language''' drop-down list which searches for the descriptions in the selected language.

 

Upon entering only a few characters in one or both of the fields, the '''Search''' can be launched with the results appearing just below.

The "Add" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingAddButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to add a quantity unit to the Metsi Smart Suite database. When it is clicked, the '''Quantity Unit''' window opens with the following fields available:

*'''Code''': An additional reference which will be used characterize the quantity unit.

*'''Only values 0 and 1 are allowed''': Ticking this check box signifies that the only accepted values are 0 and 1. If the value given is greater than 1, 1 will automatically be assumed. This particular settings is mainly used to allow for determining if an attribute is used or not in an offer.

| When deleting a quantity unit, all links to it are also removed from the various attributes which use it for example.

The "Edit" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingEditButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to see and modify the properties of a quantity unit.

The "Preview" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingPreviewButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to see all the properties of the selected quantity unit. Selecting a quantity unit and clicking on this button opens the '''Quantity unit''' window.

| It is not possible to edit the properties of an quantity unit with the use of the '''Preview''' button. This must be done with the '''Edit''' button.

In Metis Smart Suite, cost groups can be added, deleted, and edited. Cost groups are used as a means of grouping similar positions together which can later be implemented when calculating statistics; in other words, a means of viewing specific positions in a defined way. These cost groups can for example picture internal cost centers in order for a classification of positions to be done. Metis Smart Quotes will then display the content of any offer based on the defined Cost Groups. If position included in an offer are not linked to any Cost Groups they will appear in an unknown group.

The "Add" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingAddButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to add a cost group. When the button is clicked, the '''Cost Group''' window opens with the following fields available:

The newly created Cost Group will be saved into the Metis Database once the user validates the window. It will then be made available to other parts of the application like for the definition of a position.

=== Deleting a Cost Group ===

When deleting cost groups, the following pop-up window appears:

The user must confirm the message before the cost group can be deleted.

| Cost groups created in a parent version cannot be deleted when logged-in to a child version.

Only by validation of the window will the changes be saved.

When Metis Smart Suite is deployed in a multi-market structure, systems may require to be adapted based on the target market. For example, a power-cord sold in Switzerland is not identical to one sold in the US. This requires the offer for an identical system to include the appropriate one based on the market. The Variants functionality implemented in Metis Smart Suite allows to defined variants for each market which may require such changes. This will mean for the Metis Smart Quotes user that the position will be modified automatically based on the selected variant for the offer. In the example above, the power-cord position will be set to the one for the Variant defined on the offer level.

In the Variants sub-menu, the user can define those variants. The data regarding the substitution will have to be imported. The main window shows a table listing the defined Variants. When a lock is shown in the leftmost column, in means that the Variant was defined in a parent version and that it cannot be modified nor deleted.

The "Add" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingAddButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to add a variant to the Metis Smart Suite database. When it is clicked, the '''Variant''' window opens. The administrator simply has to provide a name (designation field) for the new variant and validate the window. The variant will them be added to the Metis Smart Suite database and be listed in the Variants main window.

The "Delete" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingDeleteButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to delete an existing variant. When deleting variants, the following pop-up window appears:

In the Substitute sub-menu, the user can see all defined substitutes fro the stored positions. The table shows from left to right, the order number and the designation of the position to be replaced, and the Order Number and designation of the "replacement" position. The middle column of the table displays the direction of the substitution. When a warning sign is displayed in this column for one or more substitutions, it means that there is a problem with the defined substitution. For example, the "replacement" position is not set a active.

The "Add" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingAddButton.PNG|link=]] allows the administrator to add a new substitution to Metis Smart Suite. When it is clicked, the Substitute window opens.

By using the filter function built into this window the user can find the necessary positions and select it by checking the the box in the leftmost column of the table listing the positions. Once the position has been selected, the user has to validate the window in order for the position to be shown in the Substitute window. When validating this later window the Substitution is created in Metis Smart Modeling. It is then listed in the main window.

The "Edit" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingEditButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to modify the properties of a substitute. Selecting a substitute and clicking on it opens the Substitute window. All of the fields that were available when creating a new Substitute are available and can be modified in this window.

By validating the window all changes will be saved.  

The "Preview" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingPreviewButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to see the properties of the selected substitute. Selecting one and clicking on it opens the '''Substitute''' window where the properties are displayed.

The administrator must confirm the message before the substitute can be deleted.  

The "Sort" button [[File:MetisSmartModelingDuplicateButton.PNG|link=]] allows the user to define in order in which the substitutions have to be made. By clicking the button, the Substitute window opens and lists all the substitutions defined within Metis Smart Suite.
