The '''Exchange''' button allows to import and export offers in Metis Smart Quotes.

The offer is embedded in a file with a ".MXF" extension. It is not possible to import files that have a different extension.

== Importing an Offer ==

Clicking on the '''Import Offer''' menu option opens an Explorer window where the user can select the ".MXF" file to be imported. By default, the Explorer window points to an Exchange folder.

When a ".MXF" file has been selected, the '''Import Offer''' window opens, as shown in the following example:

In the file field, the path to the selected ".MXF" file is displayed.

Under the offer information table, the following pieces of information are displayed:

*Offer Name: the name of the offer as it appears in the Description field of the [[Description of the Menu Project#Creating an Offer | New offer]] or [[Description of the Menu Project#Edit Offer | Edit offer]] windows.
*Date: the creation date of the offer
*Version: the version in which the offer has been created
*Price Category: the offer price category

Under the linked system(s) table are displayed the systems or the sub-systems present in the selected offer. The system name column shows the name of the system or sub-system as it appears in the Description field of the [[Description of the Menu Project#Adding a System | New System]], [[Description of the Menu Project#Adding a Sub-system | New Sub-system]], [[Description of the Menu Project#Edit System / Sub-system | Edit System / Sub-system]] windows.

The Date column indicates the date at which each system or the sub-system was added to the offer.

Some conditions apply for the offer to be successfully imported. If the offer to be imported already exists (on the server or the local database), a message appears indicating that the offer already exists. The offer is not imported.

Also, the Smart Quotes user must pay attention to the version. In certain cases, it is not possible to import in a version offers made in another version. For example, an offer has been made and exported by a user of the HeadQuarter version. The USA version in a child version of HeadQuarters. A USA user tries to import this offer. It is not possible because the offer was made in a different version AND the USA user does not have access to the offers made by the parent version (i.e. HeadQuarters). However, and depending on the rights granted by the administrator, a user of the HeadQuarter version could import an offer made by a user of the USA version (if this offer does not already exist on the server or the local database).

As the rights of the various Smart Quotes users can be different, the rights are taken into account when importing an offer, especially for the price category and the systems or sub-systems.

If offer to be imported uses a price category and one or more systems or sub-systems that have not been granted to the Smart Quotes user importing the offer, the offer is imported but the price category field shows "Unauthorized PC". The Smart Quotes user must select a price category to have prices in the imported offer. For the systems or sub-systems, they are imported but the following icons indicate that the system or the sub-system is not authorized to the Smart Quotes user:

== Exporting an Offer ==

To export an offer, an offer must first be opened. Otherwise, when clicking on the '''Export Current Offer''' menu option, a pop window opens asking to open an offer.

When a offer is currently open, clicking on the '''Export Current Offer''' menu option opens the '''Export Current Offer''' window, as shown in the following example:

In the file field, the default storage path is displayed. By default, the offer is saved in an Exchange folder, in the <Offer Name>.MXF format. If desired, the Smart Quotes user can select a different storage location.
